The Maastricht University scholarship 2027 for the Global Studies bachelor’s programme is open to Pakistani students. It covers full tuition and pays €20,150 a year for living costs for the full three years. Applications are open from 1 October 2026 until 1 February 2027, but you must first apply for the Global Studies programme by 10 December 2026.

Who can apply for the UM Global Studies scholarship
Pakistan is on the OECD list of countries eligible for Official Development Assistance, so Pakistani nationals can apply. You must also:
- Apply for admission to the Global Studies bachelor’s programme for 2027-2028 and submit a complete application file, meeting all admission requirements, before 10 December 2026.
- Not hold a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent higher education diploma.
- Be 35 or younger on 1 September 2027.
- Not have dual nationality from an EU/EEA country, Switzerland or Surinam.
- Show strong results in your previous studies. Your latest transcript should show at least 75% of the maximum grade.
- Show real financial need.
- Agree to act as a Global Studies and UM ambassador by sharing your experience in at least one information session.

A student room is part of the scholarship until 16 July 2028. After that you must find your own housing for the second and third years. Air tickets are not covered, and you pay a cleaning fee of about €75 to Maastricht Housing yourself. Any programme handling fee is also your own cost.
How to apply for the Maastricht University scholarship 2027
- Apply for the Global Studies bachelor’s programme through Studielink and complete your admission file before 10 December 2026.
- After applying, you receive a Maastricht University student ID. You need it to log in to the scholarship form.
- Log in with your UM account and open the scholarship application form from the official scholarship page.
- Upload your documents in .doc, .docx or PDF format.
- Check everything and submit before 1 February 2027, 11:59 pm CET. You can submit only once.
The university says its scholarship portal will be offline from 22 to 26 October 2026 for an upgrade, so avoid those dates.
Documents required
- CV of no more than two A4 pages, with your education, activities and any awards.
- Motivation letter on the university’s template.
- Latest grade transcript as proof of academic excellence.
- Personal statement of financial need.
- One reference letter from a teacher, principal, lecturer, counsellor or employer (not a family member), dated no earlier than 1 February 2025.
- Your referee’s work phone number and work or institutional email.
Selection process and result date
After 1 February 2027, the university checks that files are complete. The Global Studies admission office ranks applicants and proposes a top five in March 2027. These candidates get an online interview. All applicants hear about their status in April 2027, with final decisions by early June 2027 at the latest.
Common mistakes: missing the 10 December programme deadline, using a referee’s personal Gmail address, and submitting before all documents are final. Each of these can make your file incomplete.
