HEC LAT registration 2026 is now open for the last Law Admission Test of the year. The Higher Education Commission’s Education Testing Council (ETC) opened its portal on 4 October and will accept applications until Tuesday, 20 October 2026. The test is scheduled for Sunday, 15 November 2026.
You need to pass LAT to get admission to the five-year LLB programme at law colleges in Pakistan. If you missed the September test, this is your last chance in 2026.

Who can apply for LAT 2026
Any student who has passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (FA, FSc, ICS, I.Com or equivalent, 12 years of education) can register. Students who have taken their final HSSC exams and are waiting for the result can also apply, so you do not need to wait for your intermediate result.
How to apply for HEC LAT registration 2026
- Open the HEC Education Testing Council portal at etc.hec.gov.pk.
- Sign up, or log in if you already have an account from an earlier HEC test.
- Choose the Law Admission Test (LAT) and fill in your personal and education details carefully.
- Pay the test fee using the payment method shown on the portal.
- Submit the application and check that its status shows as submitted, not saved.
- Keep a screenshot or printout of your submitted form and fee receipt.
Common mistake: leaving the form half-done. An application left in saved or incomplete mode is not counted, and HEC does not take applications after the closing date. Finish it well before 20 October.
LAT test date 2026 and schedule
According to the 2026 test calendar HEC announced, the fifth LAT runs as follows. Dates marked tentative can change, so check the ETC portal before the test.
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration opens | 4 October 2026 |
| Last date to register | 20 October 2026 |
| Test day | 15 November 2026 |
| Result | 24 December 2026 |
Students who took the LAT on 6 September should note that HEC says that result will be announced on 16 October 2026 (tentative), a few days before this registration closes. HEC has already posted the answer keys of the September test on its website.
Passing marks and what happens after the test
LAT is a 100-mark test and you need at least 50 marks to pass. The test checks your English, general knowledge and writing, so practise short essays in clear English along with MCQs.
Once you pass, you can use your LAT result to apply to law colleges for LLB admission. Each college runs its own admission process and deadlines, so keep an eye on the colleges you want to join.
