NUMS postgraduate admission Spring 2027 is now open. The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, is taking online applications for PhD, MPhil, MS, MSc, MSN, MHPE, a Diploma in Cardiology and two clinical certifications. The last date to apply is Friday, 30 October 2026 (4:00 pm), and late applications with a higher fee close on 4 November.

NUMS postgraduate admission Spring 2027: programmes offered
Classes are run at NUMS constituent institutes: Army Medical College (AM College), the Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) and KHINAMS, with some clinical programmes at AFIC, AFIT and AFIRI.
- PhD: Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, Pharmacology, Public Health and Science of Dental Materials (AM College); Pathology (AFPGMI); Psychology (KHINAMS).
- MPhil: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Medicine, Community Medicine, Science of Dental Materials, Oral Pathology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology and Haematology (AM College / AFPGMI); Psychology (KHINAMS).
- Masters: MHPE (Health Professions Education), MS Clinical Psychology, MS Transfusion Medicine, MSc Cardiac Anesthesia and MSN (Master of Science in Nursing, female candidates only).
- Diploma: Diploma in Cardiology (AFPGMI / AFIC).
- Clinical certifications: Interventional Radiology and Hybrid Imaging (PET-CT Scan).
NUMS MPhil and PhD admission eligibility
NUMS has published a separate eligibility PDF for each programme on its admission page. The main points from the official notice are:
- A valid GAT or HAT (General) result with at least 50% cumulative score is mandatory for MPhil Basic Sciences at AM College and AFPGMI.
- PhD applicants need a GRE, GAT or HAT subject test result and an Academic Statement of Purpose.
- MPhil Psychology and MS Clinical Psychology applicants must attach a short research proposal.
- Diploma in Cardiology and MSc Cardiac Anesthesia need a one-year house job certificate. MSc Cardiac Anesthesia also needs two years of anaesthesia experience.
- MSN needs valid PNMC registration and the stated work experience.
- Government and semi-government employees must apply through their department with an NOC.
- Foreign degrees need an equivalence certificate from IBCC or HEC and the relevant regulatory body.
If you have not taken GRE, GAT or HAT yet, NUMS allows you to email the result by 17 November 2026.
How to apply online
- Open the NUMS postgraduate admissions portal and create an account.
- Fill in the online form for your programme.
- Scan and upload the required documents: CV, photograph, CNIC, degrees and transcripts, and council registration where it applies.
- Print the processing fee challan and pay it at any Habib Bank Limited (HBL) branch.
- Upload a copy of the paid challan to the portal.
- Click “Final Submit”. An unsubmitted form is not processed.
Hard copies are not accepted. The fee is charged separately for each programme, so applying for two programmes means two challans.

Reporting time on test day is 9:00 am. Only shortlisted candidates are called for interviews.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Leaving the challan unpaid or not uploading the paid copy before the deadline.
- Missing the GAT or HAT requirement for MPhil Basic Sciences.
- Overseas Pakistani applicants not attaching proof of the parent’s overseas status (NICOP or POC, passport with visa, residence permit and proof of employment abroad).
